The 4th USTER® Quality University successfully closed

Chinese top managers dedicated to cost and quality controlling

The global as well as the Chinese textile industry is going through challenging times. In this difficult period, it is more important than ever to optimize the spinning mill’s performance by controlling costs and quality to remain competitive. USTER® Quality University is a platform for the China’s textile industry to share considerable experience and unique know-how in managing quality and costs – a platform initiated by USTER, the pioneer in measuring and benchmarking quality in textiles.

Uster Technologies continued the tradition. The 4th USTER® Quality University was successfully held from the 23rd to 26th of October at Suzhou Kempinski Hotel. 23 executives of the national wide textile industry joined this USTER event.

Tailor-made courses

Facing a challenging business environment, to find a way how to achieve the required quality at the minimum cost is the key element to be competitive and successful. USTER is highly aware of this and organized tailor-made courses accordingly. USTER experts held presentations about how to manage quality and costs in modern spinning mills and went into details of business related subjects like:
- Yarn quality and its relation to fabric quality 
- Cotton as raw material – value, rules, risks 
- Cotton fiber processing – what is important to consider 
- On the way to fault-free yarn

Each course included an interactive session where the participants worked on a case study. The groups discussed solutions using USTER’s internal calculation tool which for example show the financial impact of yarn clearer cuts. In the courses, the mill managers learned theoretical background and best practice to achieve satisfying quality results at the lowest cost.

Positive feedback

The overall feedback from the participants was positive. They appreciated being actively involved in the program and USTER presenting a new way to balance cost and profitability – and they were impressed by USTER’s calculation tool. They valued that they could also bring in their practical knowledge during the workshop and exchange their experiences among the participants. Most of the participants said the USTER® Quality University was the best training they have ever attended. Also the program besides the courses – sand drawing artist showcasing USTER’s long history, lottery drawing, etc. – and the services provided by USTER were vaunted. The participant declared that starting from the received invitation, through the daily thoughtful program, to the last day’s leisure time, they always experienced USTER’s unique quality commitment: Think Quality, Think Uster!
