USTER innovations at ITMA 2015: five new systems

Strategy combines quality control and optimized profits for the entire spinning mill

USTER is proud to introduce at ITMA 2015 no less than five new and improved systems for quality-minded spinning mills. `Managing a spinning mill with quality in mind´ is the unique USTER concept behind the launches.

USTER® TESTER 6 – the Total Testing Center
The USTER® TESTER 6 represents an enormous leap forward in this renowned instrument series. Setting new standards in evenness testing, it works with greater accuracy and reliability than ever, at a test speed of 800 m/min. Specially-developed sensor technology in USTER® TESTER 6 is future-proved for extended capabilities. The system allows spinners to prevent quality claims, flagging potential problems with its Product Consistency Alert, customized for the specific materials and conditions in each mill.


The combination of accurate laboratory testing data with information from online monitoring of 100% of production is a huge breakthrough. USTER® TESTER 6 incorporates the USTER® QUALITY EXPERT management tool, creating the brand new Total Testing Center. Spinners can build their own tailored quality network, to analyze and optimize performance. Each new instrument extends the possibilities as it connects to the network, offering features such as predictions of fabric appearance, pilling resistance and weaving performance.


The Total Testing Center comes with its own knowledgeable support at hand: Assistant Q. Reverting on 65 years’ USTER know-how, Assistant Q provides clear answers to complex questions which guide mill managements in fast-response solutions towards the ultimate goal of ‘managing a spinning mill with quality in mind’.

USTER® TESTER 6 – The Total Testing Center

 

USTER® JOSSI VISION SHIELD 2
New sensors and sophisticated image analysis are at the heart of the USTER® JOSSI VISION SHIELD 2 – the ultimate defense against cotton contamination. The system can locate and remove the smallest particle of contaminant with class-leading detection of both colored and white polypropylene and other synthetics.


The new Efficiency Booster with USTER® JOSSI VISION SHIELD 2 transforms fiber cleaning into complete waste management. The result is better quality, with much less waste – a massive benefit to the mill’s bottom line. It works by creating an accurate ‘fingerprint’ of a clean cotton tuft, and matching detections against this, to ensure that only contaminated cotton is actually ejected, even when dealing with the densest tufts.

USTER® SENTINEL
The new USTER® SENTINEL, the successor of USTER® RINGDATA, offers full-scale optimization of the entire ring spinning process – the core of yarn manufacturing. With intuitive reports on every parameter influencing end-breaks, the USTER® SENTINEL has the full story about ringframe performance. Clear visuals highlight exact reasons for breaks, prompting fast and easy problem-solving.


As well as guiding major performance improvements, USTER® SENTINEL shows immediate wider benefits. Operator workloads can be optimized, as single-spindle monitoring reduces the need for patrols and end-break repairs. Mills will also see fewer defective bobbins and minimized pneumafil waste.


The USTER® SENTINEL is ready for connection with USTER® QUALITY EXPERT. This opens the door to quality data for all spinning processes, in combination with USTER® TESTER 6 measurements. USTER® SENTINEL information on end-breaks, ringframe speeds and component wear is the basis for a valuable quality optimization package.

USTER® QUANTUM 3 Anniversary Edition
At ITMA 2015, USTER is introducing the USTER® QUANTUM 3 Anniversary Edition – packed with valuable new and well-established features for optimized yarn quality. The launch marks 50 years of the first yarn clearer for automatic winding.


New features now available with the USTER® QUANTUM 3 anniversary edition focus on enhanced spinning efficiency and fabric improvement. Smart Limits for clearing become even smarter, with automatic checks on the effect of splice distribution. These features include Core Yarn Clearing, in which unique USTER® sensors detect and cut whenever a core component is missing or misaligned. Further important extras are color and shade variation detection and online hairiness measurement.


This new USTER® QUANTUM 3 anniversary edition connects with the Total Testing Center of the USTER® TESTER 6, combining real-time data from online yarn monitoring at winding with precise laboratory results from USTER® TESTER 6. The advantage for spinners will be in comprehensive data interpretation, ultimately leading to better fabrics at the end of the production cycle.

USTER® QUANTUM 3 Anniversary Edition

USTER® TESTER 6-C800 for filament yarn
Alongside innovations for staple yarn applications, USTER also presents a new system specifically for filament yarn. Destined for a central role in the laboratory of every man-made fiber producer, the USTER® TESTER 6-C800 redefines evenness testing. New sensors are the basis for innovative features providing the most comprehensive quality measurements ever available. USTER’s new digital Capacitive Sensor brings increased accuracy and reliability. A unique new twist scan facility extends the test options to make twister settings easier.


Advanced sensor technology with USTER® TESTER 6-C800 also enables a breakthrough in the measurement of interminglings, an important parameter for filament yarns. The optical Sensor OM counts interminglings per meter at a testing speed of 800 m/min. The resulting data can be used to prevent variations in fabric appearance. The system also incorporates expert knowledge, accessible at a mouse-click, for rapid fault tracing when quality problems occur on the spinning machine.
