100% bale testing with Uster FiberQ
For Raajco Spinners, ‘looking to the future’ is more than a vague concept. This go-ahead spinner is in the forefront of technology in its processing, as well as taking a strong environmental stance in every aspect of business.
Not only does the company focus on continuously improving the quality of its yarn to meet customer needs, but it also leads the way as an eco-conscious operator. Its plant in the Dindigul district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu is a modern industrial complex – but with 75% of the site covered by greenery and 50% of its power needs met from renewable energy sources by end of 2025.
Future-oriented technology is also key. The Raajco spinning operation has recently become the first Uster customer in India to test 100% of incoming cotton bales for quality, using the latest FiberQ software for raw material management. This is seen as a challenging task, but one which fits perfectly with Raajco’s aim of maximizing yield from its incoming cotton, for improvements in yarn output with the quality standards its customers demand.
Says Managing Director Lalithamani Rajendran: “FiberQ was ideal for us, enabling mass data analysis and decision support systems exactly as we required. In fact we have transformed our challenges into opportunities, by implementing 100% testing of bales, even for Indian cotton, through the new bale management system.”
Raajco is equipped with over 36,000 spindles, and produces 100% cotton Compact ring-spun yarn, for hosiery and warp applications in the count range 24s to 60s and exporting to European countries, Bangladesh and Japan.
As with all spinners, raw material cost and quality is a major issue, with a potential impact on profitability. For Raajco, the addition of Uster FiberQ has enabled the company to take control of the variables, using data and expert guidance to formulate the optimum policies in procurement of its raw cotton supplies for quality and economic efficiency.
